Music

  • Sonic Lanterns

Performed by the Yale Laptop Ensemble at the 2025 Illuminations Symposium at CCAM, February 20th 2025. The piece features a phone-based instrument that uses the IMU and compass sensors as well as network communication to coordinate musical material as the performers move about the audience. Seated around the perimeter of the audience, hArpists and Bassists perform arpeggio patterns and bass lines that are coordinated with the Lanternists through the network.

  • Studies in Automation

For robotically-augmented Acoustic Guitar Quartet, premiered at the 2024 UltraSpace Symposium at CCAM.

  • Improvisations in Frozen Time

Live audio processing and sound spatialization performance for the Ultra Space Symposium at CCAM, April 2023.

  • Six Cycles

Students in MUSI 238: Contemporary Chamber Ensemble perform my structured improvisation, Six Cycles.

  • MIDI FACE

MIDI_Face is a MaxforLive device that allows performers to forward, route, process, delay, and gate MIDI messages over the network. It also creates a grid-based visualization so you can track where the MIDI data has migrated in real time. We performed these over zoom using CamTwist, AudioMovers, and Ableton.

  • Spinning Plates

For Laptop Ensemble, performed live at the Center for Collaborative Art and Media, March 2020.

Performed remotely with Zoom & AudioMovers, October 2020.

  • Lowest Trees Have Tops

The vocal ensemble LUCERIS performing a new piece at the Beinecke Rare Books and Manuscripts Library as part of the Yale College New Music Concert Series.

  • Terms and Conditions

Terms and Conditions is a composition for voice and live electronic processing with accompanying visuals.  While a vocalist reads Google’s “Terms of Services”, a keyboardist employs granulation techniques, filtering, LPC, and channel-vocoder effects to highlight, humorize, or obfuscate the text.  In dramatizing the text in various ways, the piece draws attention to the contradiction between its light and conversational tone and the underlying message as it relates to digital ownership and privacy.
